STEEL STRUCTURES

Structures made from steel profiles are called steel structures. These include columns, supports, steel beams, and overlays, which are primarily used in construction and engineering. The majority of steel structures are mass-produced and standardised in specialised production facilities. Raw materials for producing structures include cast iron, steel, non-ferrous metals, and alloys.

TYPES OF STEEL STRUCTURES

There are a vast number of steel structure types available for production and sale in the market, classified by various properties:
- by structural design;
- by purpose;
- by assembly method.

BY STRUCTURAL DESIGN

Steel structures are divided into the following categories based on their structural design:
- Detachable structures - ready-made structures are made from separate parts, which are fastened together. The advantage of these structures lies in the ability to quickly repair or replace a particular section, as well as disassemble and transport the structure efficiently;
- Solid cast structures - steel structures are produced in factory workshops using casting methods.

BY PURPOSE

According to their purpose, steel structures can be divided into two types:
- Load-bearing structures - these structures take the full load from other steel parts and are responsible for the integrity, stability, and strength of the entire structure;
- Enclosing structures - steel structures not subject to significant (load-bearing) loads: fences, canopies, and other enclosing structures.

BY ASSEMBLY METHOD

Steel structures are divided into the following types according to their assembly method:
- Welded - main parts of the structure are connected by welding;
- Riveted - structure components are connected using rivets;
- Stamped - complex structure shapes created in a factory using stamping methods;
- Bolted - structures are produced in parts and are assembled on-site using bolts and nut-bolt connections;
- Combined - the most complex type of structures, where several assembly methods are used.
